Internal Complaint Committee

Auniati University is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all its students, faculty, and staff. In accordance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, the university has established an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to address and resolve complaints related to sexual harassment, gender-based violence, and other forms of harassment.

Composition of the ICC:
The ICC of Auniati University consists of the following members:
  • Chairperson: Dr.Smriti Rekha Baruah
  • Member Secretary: Dr.Madhurjyya Mondit Baruah, Registrar
  • Members:
      Sri Tulashi Rajkhowa
      Dr.Rinjumoni Sharma
      Sri Bithika Saikia

Objectives of the ICC:
The primary objectives of the ICC are:
  1. To provide a fair and confidential platform for students, faculty, and staff to report complaints related to sexual harassment, gender-based violence, and other forms of harassment.
  2. To investigate and resolve complaints in a timely and impartial manner.
  3. To promote a culture of respect, inclusivity, and zero tolerance for harassment and violence.
  4. To ensure that all members of the university community are aware of their rights and responsibilities in relation to harassment and violence.

Functions of the ICC:
The ICC shall perform the following functions:
  1. Receive and record complaints related to harassment and violence.
  2. Conduct preliminary inquiries and investigations into complaints.
  3. Provide support and counseling services to complainants and respondents.
  4. Make recommendations for disciplinary action against respondents found guilty of harassment or violence.
  5. Monitor and review the university's policies and procedures related to harassment and violence.

Procedures for Filing Complaints:
Students, faculty, and staff who wish to file a complaint related to harassment or violence may do so by:
  1. Submitting a written complaint to the Chairperson or Member Secretary of the ICC.
  2. Reporting the incident to the university's authorities, who shall forward the complaint to the ICC.
  3. Seeking support and guidance from the university's counseling services or student welfare office.

Confidentiality and Protection:
The ICC shall maintain confidentiality and protect the identity of complainants, respondents, and witnesses. The committee shall also ensure that complainants are not subjected to retaliation or victimization.

Time Frame for Resolution
The ICC shall strive to resolve complaints within a period of 90 days from the date of receipt of the complaint.

Annual Report
The ICC shall submit an annual report to the university's authorities, detailing the number of complaints received, investigated, and resolved, as well as recommendations for improving the university's policies and procedures related to harassment and violence.

By establishing the Internal Complaints Committee, Auniati University reaffirms its commitment to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all members of its community.
